How We Clean Air Ducts:

  • First we hook up an industrial vacuum up to the furnace.  This creates a vacuum throughtout the air duct system.

  • Once the vacuum is set up we then begin to clean all hot and cold air registers with over 200 psi of air pressure using what is commonly known as an "air-wand" or "air gun".  These "air-wands" or "air guns" have a nozzle that is approximately 12" long, they are thinner than a pencil, and are pliable.  We angle the air pressure as to force all the dust and Furnace Tech debris through the register, down the branch line and into the main trunk-lines.

  • After all hot and cold air registers and branch lines are clean we will then use what is commonly known as an "air snake" or "air whip".  This device has a reverse air nozzle that pushes all the dust and debris backwards toward the furnace where an industrial vacuum catches the debris without making a mess in the home.

  • After cleaning the air duct system, we will re-start it to ensure that it is running properly.

Air Duct Cleaning  FAQ:

How long does it take to clean air ducts?
We typically ask our customers to allocate about an hour and a half to clean the furnace and air duct system.

How can some companies only charge $99 to clean air ducts?
Usually if a company is only charging $99 to clean your air ducts it means one of two things; there's hidden costs you are not aware of, or they are just doing a "rush job" and are in and out of your house quickly.

What is "roto-brush" method of cleaning? And is it worth it?
Typically a company will pull off all the registers and insert a round brush into every air register.  Unfortunately most air ducts are rectangular, and it is like trying to put a round peg into a square hole.  Since this is the case, the roto-brush is unable to get into the corners all that well.  Aside from that, this method usually takes 4-6 hours, and costs around $400-800 depending on how many registers you have.  Most people agree this is not worth it since the dust will be back in Clean Air Ductsless than 2 years.

Is truck mounted ducting cleaning equipment better than portable equipment?
Not really, truck mounted equipment may be more powerful in some respects but less in others.  The bottom line is this, if you are using air duct cleaning equipment designed specifically for air duct cleaning the thing that is going to matter the most is the amount of pride the cleaner takes

What good is a clean air duct system?
Removing dust and debris from the air ducts increases air flow and helps reduce the amount of dust and debris from entering the furnace.  This saves money on energy bills and helps prevent system failures.

How often should you clean duct system?
Most people prefer to have their air duct system cleaned about every two years.  Since air duct systems are a breeding ground for dust mites you may want to have them cleaned more often if you have allergies, asthma, or pets.

What does the EPA say about air duct cleaning?
"Most people are now aware that indoor air pollution is an issue of growing concern."

Should I ever have furnace cleaning and not air duct cleaning?
NADCA and EPA recommend cleaning your entire heating system if there is visible dust build-up including the following: Air ducts, coils, drain pan, registers, grills, air plenum, blower motor and assembly, heat exchanger, air filter and air cleaner.

What does NADCA say about air ducting cleaning?
NADCA says there are several factors that can contribute to the need to have your air duct system cleaned and they include; Pets, occupants with asthma or allergies, cigarette or cigar smoke, water contamination, damage to the HVAC system and home remodeling projects.
